About StoryTime
What exactly is StoryTime? +
StoryTime is an English Reading Habit App for children aged 5–13. It
combines illustrated stories with four skill activities (Read, Guess
the Word, Listen Quest, Spot the Truth) and a reward economy — coins
and diamonds earned by completing stories, spent to unlock vocabulary
games. The goal is not just English skills. It is the daily reading
habit: a child who opens the app without being asked.
How is StoryTime different from other reading apps?
+
Most reading apps are either passive libraries (like Epic) or phonics
drill tools (like Reading Eggs). Neither has solved the return problem
— making children want to come back the next day. StoryTime uses a
closed reward economy: reading stories is the only way to earn coins
and diamonds, and coins and diamonds are the only way to unlock and
play vocabulary games. The child cannot get to the game without
reading. This is the habit engine no competitor has built.
Is StoryTime suitable for children who are already confident readers?
+
Yes. StoryTime has 8+ levels that progress continuously from 3-letter
words at Level 1 to advanced vocabulary and comprehension at Level 8
and beyond. Most competitors stop at age 8. StoryTime continues to age
13 with progressively challenging content. If your child is already
reading confidently, simply select a higher starting level during
registration.
Is StoryTime good for ESL families? +
StoryTime was specifically designed with ESL families in mind. Every
word in every story can be tapped to hear it spoken correctly — so
children hear accurate English pronunciation in every session. The
Listen Quest activity trains listening comprehension, which most
English learning apps ignore completely. The vocabulary curriculum
(183+ words across 8 categories including Actions, Emotions, Objects,
and Nature) mirrors ESL teaching frameworks. For families where
English is the language of opportunity, StoryTime provides daily
immersion in a format children actually want to return to.
The Reward System
How do coins and diamonds work? +
Coins and diamonds are earned by completing story sessions — reading a
story and finishing all four skill activities. Each completed session
awards approximately 150–180 coins and 3 diamonds. Diamonds are used
to unlock hidden vocabulary games (9 diamonds per game). Coins are
spent to play the games (100 coins per play session). When coins run
low, children return to reading more stories — and the habit loop
continues.
Is the reward system manipulative? +
We take this question seriously. StoryTime's reward system is designed
to build intrinsic motivation, not replace it. The key distinction is
that reading is the only path to the reward — children are not given
artificial dopamine hits unrelated to learning. The games themselves
teach vocabulary from the same stories, so play is also learning. Once
the habit forms after a few weeks, most children return to StoryTime
because they enjoy it, not just for the rewards. The goal is always to
make the reading itself the reward.
Can I turn off the games and just use the reading?
+
The games are an integral part of the habit engine — they are what
creates the motivation to return. Removing them would reduce StoryTime
to a standard reading app, which is not what it is designed to be.
However, you can monitor game time through the parent dashboard and
discuss screen time limits with your child. The game access naturally
gates itself: a child must read 3 stories and complete all activities
to unlock each game.
Managing Your Account
How many child profiles can I create? +
You can create multiple child profiles under one parent account. Each
child has their own progression, reward economy, level, and reading
history — completely separate from siblings. This is particularly
useful for homeschooling families or families with children at
different reading stages.
What does the parent dashboard show? +
The parent dashboard shows: stories completed and activities finished,
vocabulary words encountered, level progression percentage (e.g. 38%
through Level 1), diamonds earned, weekly reading activity (stories
per week over the last 6 weeks), reading engagement rate, Word Guess
win rate, and listening quiz performance. You can access the dashboard
from the settings menu within the app.
Can I change my child's reading level? +
Yes. You can adjust your child's level from the parent dashboard under
"Learning Path Levels." If the initial level is too easy, move up. If
it is too challenging, move down. Progress and rewards are preserved
when levels are changed.
How do I delete my account or my child's data?
+
To delete your account and all associated data, contact
support@codeKlusters.com. We will process all deletion requests within
30 days. Individual child profiles can be deleted from within the app
without deleting the parent account.
